Cosmopolitan

The Cosmopolitan is an iconic cocktail known for its glamorous and sophisticated character. This elegant drink gained great popularity in the 1990s, especially through the TV series "Sex and the City", where it became a symbol of the stylish lifestyle. With its pink color and the perfect balance between sweet, sour and tart, the Cosmopolitan is a real treat for the senses.

Incidentally, the Cosmopolitan has been around for quite a long time - albeit in a different recipe. In the past, the noble drink was prepared with gin and not vodka. Then, in the 1980s, vodka came to the fore and replaced gin in the Cosmopolitan.

The Cosmopolitan is a wonderfully balanced drink, perfect for special occasions or as a chic pre-dinner aperitif. The exciting history and evolution of the recipe over time, including its famous role in 'Sex and the City', add to the mystique and appeal of this timeless cocktail.

Ingredients:
  • 45 ml vodka or gin
  • 30 ml cranberry juice
  • 15 ml fresh lime juice
  • 15 ml triple sec or Cointreau
  • Ice
  • Slice of lime or lemon zest for garnish
Preparation:
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Add the vodka or gin, cranberry juice, lime juice and triple sec.
  3. Shake the ingredients vigorously until they are well chilled.
  4. Strain the cocktail into a chilled martini glass.
  5. Garnish with a slice of lime or lemon zest.
  6. Serve immediately.
